Every day I drive to work, I pass this MD Anderson billboard.
And every day I feel irritated by it. It reminds me of the pain and suffering of cancer patients. It reminds me of the waiting room at MD Anderson and the lack of vibrancy. It reminds me of the doctors who weren’t interested in determining my particular set of triggers that led to cancer.
Contrast that with going into Dr. Allibone’s office. People there are happy, the staff is supportive. There are big smiles, warm salutations, life, energy, a sort of feeling of unity, very much like knowing that you are part of a team that has a vested interest in your healing.
A very stark contrast. I want to be in a place that supports healing, that supports life.
Can I change the slogan? How about:
Treating cancer as something to kill, at the expense of the host organism, is all they do.
