Water.
An essential component of life.
The cleaner the water, the better for our body.
The water in my neighborhood is very hard. Hard water has a high content of calcium in it which coats everything. After showering my skins feels tight. And our water treatment facilities use chloramines (a combination of chlorine and ammonia) to disinfect our water. The chlorine makes my skin and hair very dry. I imagine that my body has to work to get these contaminants out of the water before it can use the water to support me.
My intent was to get a water softening and filtering system into this house as soon as possible. I checked with several companies. This stuff is expensive! And it isn’t rocket science. I didn’t want to pay out $4,000 and be tied to one company forever. So, I did my research and ten (10) months ago I purchased a water softener (a Fleck) and some water filter housings (Pentek 10″ Big Blue) online last August. Yes, you heard correctly … last August, as in 2016, like almost a year ago. I spent less than $1,000 on the materials.
It has taken me that long to find someone to install the equipment. Many plumbers were not comfortable with it. Finally, I found someone who installs water softening and filtration equipment for a living. And it only cost me $400.
Sweet! I finally have filtered water!
